Nepal Crush West Indies by 90 Runs to Seal Historic T20I Series Victory

Nepal created history in Sharjah, sealing their maiden T20I series victory over a full-member nation with a thumping 90-run win against the West Indies.

Having edged the opening match two days earlier, Nepal carried the momentum into the second encounter and delivered a performance of sheer dominance with both bat and ball.

Opting to bat first, Nepal were in early trouble at 16/2 as Akeal Hosein struck twice inside the powerplay. But opener Aasif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora turned the game around with a stunning century stand.

Sheikh anchored the innings with an unbeaten 68 from 47 deliveries, while Jora’s blistering 63 off 39 balls, laced with five sixes, gave Nepal the upper hand. Their 100-run partnership lifted Nepal to 173/6, a total that looked even more imposing under the Sharjah lights.

The West Indies reply never got going. Their top order collapsed to 7/2 inside five overs, and from there Nepal’s bowlers ran riot. Mohammad Aadil Alam starred with figures of 4/24, while Kushal Bhurtel chipped in with 3/16.

Only Jason Holder, with 21 runs, showed some resistance as West Indies folded meekly for 83 in 17.1 overs, their lowest T20I score against an associate nation.

For Nepal, the 90-run win not only secured the series but also marked the biggest victory margin by an associate team over a full-member, underlining a new high in their cricketing journey.
