Jannik Sinner reclaimed the world No. 1 ranking after defeating Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6(4) to win his maiden Paris Masters title on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Italian needed victory to leapfrog Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings, and he did so in commanding fashion, lifting his fifth trophy of 2025 without dropping a set all tournament.

From the very first game, Sinner imposed his rhythm, breaking Auger-Aliassime’s serve and dictating play with his trademark precision and depth.

The Canadian, who needed the title to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin, struggled to handle Sinner’s relentless pace and accuracy, managing just three points on the Italian’s serve in the opening set.

The second set was tighter, with Auger-Aliassime saving multiple break points and pushing the match to a tiebreak. But Sinner’s composure under pressure proved decisive, his backhand winners and cleverly disguised drop shots keeping his opponent constantly on the back foot.

A final down-the-line backhand sealed victory and confirmed Sinner’s return to the summit of men’s tennis. “It’s been an incredible few months,” Sinner said afterward. “We worked really hard, and to see it pay off like this means a lot.”

The win extended Sinner’s unbeaten indoor streak to 26 matches, reaffirming his dominance ahead of the ATP Finals in Turin.
