Djokovic Begins Physical Rebuild, Targets Fresh Push Against Alcaraz and Sinner in 2026

Novak Djokovic’s visit to the Qatar Grand Prix offered more than just a weekend among roaring engines and fast corners; it revealed a veteran athlete determined to reset his body for one more chapter at the top of world tennis.

The 38-year-old spent time in the F1 paddock, meeting drivers and presenting trophies, but made it clear that his off-season mission is far from glamorous: he is rebuilding himself from the ground up.

The 2025 season tested Djokovic in ways few others have. Despite reaching four Grand Slam semifinals, the Serb struggled to match the physical intensity of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who defeated him repeatedly in the year’s biggest moments.

Shoulder issues emerged late in the season, forcing him to end his campaign early and miss the ATP Finals for the second year in a row.

Speaking from Doha, Djokovic described this period as a “complete rebuild,” an effort to strengthen the areas that have hampered him over the past 18 months.

He also showcased his new Regenesis recovery pod, a nod to his long-standing interest in innovative recovery techniques aimed at extending his remarkable career.

Djokovic insists he is not preparing to step aside. Instead, he is targeting a fully healthy return in 2026, hoping to push Alcaraz and Sinner from the opening weeks of the season.

For a player who debuted on tour before either rival was born, the goal remains the same: stay strong, stay competitive, and write another chapter in a storied career.

As Djokovic put it, “I’m trying to reconstruct my machine… Hopefully I can keep up with the best guys.”
