Swift Response Saves Ngidi After Frightening On-Field Injury in Delhi

A tense moment during the IPL clash in New Delhi turned into a story of swift coordination and relief, as Lungi Ngidi was rushed to hospital following a scary on-field injury.

The incident unfolded at the Arun Jaitley Stadium when the Delhi Capitals pacer attempted a catch off Axar Patel’s bowling.

Misjudging the trajectory, Ngidi lost his balance and crashed onto the turf, appearing to hit his head heavily. Players and medical staff immediately signalled for assistance as he lay clutching his head and neck.

What followed highlighted the efficiency of emergency response systems in high-pressure situations. With urgency paramount, Ngidi was stretchered off and placed in an ambulance bound for BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital.

Despite evening traffic in the capital, authorities created a “green corridor,” allowing the ambulance to cover nearly 7.5 kilometres in just 11 minutes, significantly faster than the usual travel time.

The coordinated effort by Delhi Traffic Police ensured there were no delays at intersections, effectively clearing a path through one of the city’s busiest zones. Such rapid intervention proved crucial in ensuring immediate medical attention.

Fortunately, subsequent updates brought relief. Ngidi underwent scans, including a CT check, which revealed no serious damage. He was declared stable and discharged later that evening, rejoining his teammates at the hotel.

While the fall briefly cast a shadow over the match, the quick thinking of officials and medical teams ensured the situation did not escalate further, turning a moment of panic into one of reassurance.
