Rajasthan Royals continued their perfect start to the Indian Premier League 2026 season with a commanding 27-run win over Mumbai Indians in a rain-hit 11-over clash in Guwahati.
After a delayed start, the Royals came out blazing. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unleashed chaos in the powerplay, racing to 80 in just five overs. The 15-year-old Sooryavanshi dazzled with a fearless 39 off 14, even taking on Jasprit Bumrah with audacious strokeplay.
Jaiswal, however, was the star of the night. He combined elegance with brute force, hammering an unbeaten 77 off 32 balls. His clean hitting ensured Rajasthan piled up an imposing 150 for 3 despite the shortened format.
Mumbai’s chase never quite took off. Early strikes from Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma reduced them to 29 for 3 in the powerplay, putting them on the back foot.
Ravi Bishnoi then tightened the screws with crucial middle-order wickets, effectively ending the contest.
A late counterattack from Sherfane Rutherford and Naman Dhir briefly raised hopes, but the steep required rate proved too much. Rajasthan’s bowlers held their nerve, using clever variations on a slowing surface to restrict Mumbai to 123 for 9.
With three wins in three matches, Rajasthan Royals have surged to the top of the table, while Mumbai Indians are left searching for answers after another setback.
