India’s T20 World Cup Triumph Rewarded with Massive BCCI Bonus

India’s historic triumph in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has been followed by a remarkable financial reward, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a bonus of 1.31 billion rupees (about $14.2 million) for the victorious squad and support staff.

The reward comes after the Indian national cricket team secured their third T20 World Cup title with a commanding victory over the New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India dominated the contest, sealing the trophy with a comprehensive 96-run win that capped a memorable tournament campaign.

The team had already earned $2.34 million as the official tournament prize, but the BCCI’s bonus dwarfs that figure.

In fact, the additional payout alone exceeds the tournament’s overall prize pool of $11.25 million, highlighting the financial strength of the Indian board and the scale of the achievement.

Leading the celebrations was captain Suryakumar Yadav, who lifted the trophy in front of a packed home crowd.

The dynamic batter praised his teammates for maintaining focus throughout the competition and delivering when it mattered most on the biggest stage.

This is not the first time the BCCI has rewarded major success with generous incentives. After India’s Champions Trophy triumph last year, the board distributed a $6.72 million bonus to the squad, demonstrating its tradition of recognising landmark achievements.

With three T20 World Cup titles now secured, India has further cemented its status as one of the most dominant forces in white-ball cricket.

Looking ahead, Yadav hinted that the team’s next major ambition could be winning a cricket gold medal at the 2028 Summer Olympics, where the T20 format is expected to feature.
